Vertigo From Sidi Boots

When you open the box for these new track and racing oriented Sidi boots, you’re not sure what to expect.  Sometimes pictures can be misleading for anyone who hasn’t tried Sid1 boots or has not had  friends who wear the older model Sidi Vertebra boots, it’s always difficult to guess what you’re going to find.

Sidi Boots Vertigo

Sidi Boots Vertigo

Many have witnessed Sidi boots put through some awful falls and ended up beat up and looking pretty mangled, without anyone having any foot or ankle injuries afterwards.  As endorsements go that’s pretty hard to beat.

The only problem associated with the Vertebra model was the awful noise they make when the wearer is walking.; you’d never mistake the wearer of a pair of Vertebra nearby. The distinctive squeaky sound they make from the overlapping plastic plates had to be heard to be believed. When it comes down to it, squeaky boots or mashed up ankles – it’s a bit of a no brainer.

Happily this problem seems resolved with the introduction of the Vertigo Sidi boots. More traditional in appearance than the Vertebra they appear to offer a similar high level of protection. From the photos, it can be seen that they are endowed with extremely rugged plastic shin protection, continuing over the ankle bones and calf and the Achilles tendon. As you would expect these boots also have toe sliders and gear shifter patches that can be replaced.

The two outstanding features are the calf adjustment system and method of venting.

While the vent system is similar to that found on other makes i.e. about halfway between the heel and toes the major improvement that Sidi boots have introduced on the Vertigo that simply sliding a button back or forward open or closes it.

The calf adjustment is controlled via a small knob and push button and allows the  boots to be adjusted to match your calf size.

In summary Sidi Boots Vertigo are a very impressive combination of quality construction and safety features.
